Virtual learning platforms: a systematic review (2017-2023)

Introduction. Virtual learning platforms are computer applications or programs (software) that allow interaction between students and teachers as a means of learning and teaching. Methodology. With the aim of systematizing the scientific evidence on virtual learning platforms used from 2017 to 2023. The analysis of 81 scientific articles is presented, from the Eric, Dialnet and Scopus databases. Eight were selected; in English and Spanish languages. This selection was developed through inclusion and exclusion criteria using Boolean operators in this case ''AND'' and ''OR'', identifying authors, countries, objectives, instruments, approaches, strategies, level of study, levels and conclusions. Results. The results show that the most used platforms are Moodle and Classroom, most of the publications develop qualitative research with a descriptive level; the objectives are to evaluate the use of virtual platforms as a means of teaching and learning. Discussion. Virtual platforms are designed for various levels of education; however, there are challenges related to the understanding of their development and use.
