Abstract

The rapid global growth of the contagion curve has made it possible to reap scientific and technological
advances quickly, showing the ability of human beings to adapt. World political leaders have had to
immediately address the impact of the disease on the health, social, and economic fronts. Health systems
bared their reality in the face of decades of neglect and were saturated by a shortage of medical equipment.

However, scientists and the global technology
industry have given an impromptu response
to the challenges posed. This work provides an
overview of FPGAs applications. It explores their
use as reconfigurable devices to mitigate the
impact of Covid-19 (Coronavirus disease-2019)
in artificial intelligence, implementation of 5G
communications systems, Internet of things
(IoT), and signal processing, information security,
industrial control, and telemedicine.
