Health tourism strategies in Bucaramanga during the period 2015-2020 Estrategias de turismo de salud en Bucaramanga durante el período 2015-2020

Abstract

Due to the quality and certification of its medical establishments, Colombia has become an outstanding destination in health tourism in Latin America, the specialization of its services, the professionalism of its human talent and the natural and cultural wealth of the country. Bucaramanga stands out in the national market for its varied and specialized offer of medical services in areas such as ophthalmology, neurology, cardiology, orthopedics and plastic surgery. In addition, the municipality has an appropriate tourist and hotel structure to meet the demands and desires of both local and foreign tourists. The objective of the study carried out was to identify the strategies developed by the health tourism industry in Bucaramanga, Colombia, during the years 2015 to 2020. To achieve this, a bibliographic review was carried out based on secondary sources, using a qualitative descriptive approach. . Thanks to the results obtained, it was possible to identify the strategies, actions, initiatives and projects implemented in the sector during the period analyzed. The achievements achieved and the challenges faced were also highlighted.
